ISO Commercial Liability Umbrella Coverage Form Eligibility

ISO COMMERCIAL LIABILITY UMBRELLA COVERAGE FORM ELIGIBILITY

(April 2019)

The Insurance Services Office (ISO) Commercial Liability Umbrella Coverage Form rules do not limit, restrict, or exclude any specific types or categories of business ventures or risks eligible for coverage. It is available for any commercial entity, venture, or risk.

However, underlying coverage does limit eligibility. A commercial general liability coverage form or policy (or its equivalent) must be in place. A businessowners policy can satisfy the general liability coverage requirement but, when it does, CU 24 29–Businessowners Liability Changes must be attached.

If the umbrella is to cover automobiles, either a commercial auto liability coverage form or policy or a commercial auto liability bond must be in place.

Farm and Agricultural-related Risks

ISO Division Four–Farm Manual provides coverage for property, general liability, inland marine and umbrella for farm and agricultural-related operations. When FL 00 20–Farm Liability Coverage provides the underlying liability coverage then FB 00 01–Farm Umbrella Liability Policy must be used. However, if CG 00 01–Commercial General Liability Coverage Form (Occurrence Basis) provides the underlying liability coverage with FL 04 11–Basic Farm Premises Liability attached to address the farm specific concerns, the CU 00 01 must be used.
